Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination (SCRA), 2013
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices' Examination (SCRA), 2013 on 20/01/2013 for recruitment to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.
Eligibility:
Age : Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years as on 1/1/2013. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
Educational Qualification: Must have passes in the first or second division, The intermediate or an equivalent examination (10+2) of a University /Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.
Fee: Rs.100/- to be deposted either in any branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking of SBI or by credit / debit card. (SC/ST/PH/Female candidates are exempted from payment.

Detailed instructions are available on the abovementioned website.The applicants are advised to submit onlysingle application, however if due to anyunavoidable situation, if he/she submitsanother/multiple applications, then he/shemust ensure that application with thehigher RID is complete in all respects likeapplicants details, examination centre,photograph, signature, fee etc.
General Instructions:
1. CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION:The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination.
2. Candidates are required to apply online by using the Brief Instructions for filling up the Online Application Formhave been given in the Appendix II. Detailed instructions are available on the above mentioned website.
3. The Online Application can be filled upto 12th November, 2012 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination.
4. Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.For both writing and marking answers in the OMR sheet [Answer Sheet], candidates must use black ball pen only. Pens with any other colors are prohibited.
5. In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications,candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near Gate 'C' of its campus in person
6. Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned item including mobile phones/pagers or any valuable/costly items to the venue of the examination as arrangements for safe keeping cannot be assured.
7. The questions will be designed to test a candidate's general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. The standard of answers to questions should be as expected of students of standard
8. Knowledge of the human body-nutrition, balanced diet, substitute foods, public health and sanitation including control of epidemics and common diseases. Environmental pollution and its control. Food adulteration, proper storage and preservation of food grains and finished products, population explosion, population control.
9. Solar system and the earth. Seasons, Climate, Weather, Soil�its formation, erosion.Forests and their uses. Natural calamities cyclones, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions.Mountains and rivers and their role in irrigation in India.
