Partner Business organization comprises of Engineering, Architecture and the Partner program teams. We innovate, support and execute on the APJC and Word Wide partner strategy and vision to drive accelerated and profitable growth for Cisco and our partner ecosystem. Without Cisco Partners Cisco does not sell 90% of it s technology and solutions in APJ.
We are looking at large scale disruption of our partners, customers and even Cisco over the next few years, with the move to digitization and liquid applications which encompass all parts of Lines of business. The large scale moves to software and the ease of replication and commoditization are all driving change faster, to this end we need to continue to evolve our Partner organization to take advantage of these disruptions and see them as opportunities. Therefore, we will be creating a new Virtual Partner Engineering team in APJ to support our theaters with technical outcome based training which is aligned to best practice and stops replication of effort.
The Virtual Partner Engineering Team
We are creating the new Virtual Partner Engineering team (VPSE) to help support the APJ theater Partner SE s (PSE). The PSE s in the theaters are the engineers that drive new technology and innovation into our top Tier 1 (135 Gold) partners (Strategic and Coverage). There is a significant gap in allocation of resources to tier 2 partners and the VPSE team will help focus on the Growth and Programmatic Partners and our Distributors.
The VPSE team will help support the Tier 2 partners and distributors in each in the theaters by working with the theater PSE s in building a repeatable model across APJ.
A key role in the future of this new team will be that of the VPSE Program Analyst and Process Coordinator as it will help build define and manage the process for training and development across APJ.
Role & Responsibilities
The key role of the vPSE is to drive Software & Programmability enablement for our Distributors and Tier 2 partners.
Main functions as follows:
1. Work closely with Theatre Partner Engineering team to understand their enablement needs and strategy in the Tier 2 space around Software & Programmability
2. Occasionally provide training to the Disti and Tier 2 partners
3. Regular syn up with Architecture and DevNet team to drive initiatives and DevNet events for the Tier 2 partners
4. Ability to write and create basic application, prototype and Proof of Concept software to work with Cisco hardware and software platforms to facilitate discussion and demonstration to partners
5. To provide expertise in infrastructure programmability, software defined networking, Open Source platforms and projects, and both Cisco and industry standard Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
6. To actively share knowledge and developments both internally and externally
Desired technical skills include, but are not limited to:
1. C, C , Java and/ or Python programming skills
2. Software Development knowledge
3. Writing software which integrates with external APIs, e.g. RESTful APIs
4. Current software development tools, such as Atom, Eclipse, Git
5. Familiar with Cisco DevNet i.e. developer.cisco.com
6. Linux systems administration and Open Source software experience
7. Basic knowledge of networking technologies
