HTML clipboardThe State of Jharkhand came
into existence on the 15th of November,2000 . An Act to establish the Jharkhand
Academic Council was enacted by the Jharkhand State Legislature and assented to
by the Governor of the State on 26.12.2003, which was known as Jharkhand
Academic Council Act 02.7.2003.
The Jharkhand Academic Council was constituted by HRD Department Government of
Jharkhand Vide Notification No. 2/1-72/06 E.d.n 90 dated 07-06-2007 consisting.
The tenure of the members and Chartered Accountant other than the Chairman and
ex-officer Members shall be three years from the Govt. notification.
The Jharkhand Academic Council was established for holding and conducting
examinations at the end of Intermediate, Education, Secondary Education,
Sanskrit Education and Madrasa Education and for prescribing courses of studies
for such examinations and for recommending for recognition of Intermediate
Educational Institutions, High Schools, Sanskrit Schools and Madrasas to the
State Government and for carrying out such other or duties assigned to the
council by the State Govt from time to time.
With the establishment of the Jharkhand Academic Council, the Bihar Intermediate
Education Council Act, 1992, the Bihar School Examination Board Act, 1952
(adapted as Jharkhand Secondary Examination Board Act, 2000) Bihar Sanskrit
Education Board Act, 1981 And Bihar Board of Madrasa Educaiton Board Acts, 1981
were repealed.
The Jharkhand Academic Council started functioning in a rented house in
Rameshwaram where previously the Jharkhand Intermediate Council functioned, and
the Secondary portion continued to function in Zila School Ranchi campus. The
search for suitable accommodation for JAC continued unabated till at last the
Council was housed in a portion of the Birsadih Club on rent. The present office
was inaugurated by the hon?ble Chief Minister Sri Arjun Munda on 13.12.2003
under the Chairmanship of the then HRD Minister Sri Pashupati Nath Singh.
Under the dynamic leadership of the State Govt. all the branches of education
Secondary, Intermediate Sanskrit (Madhyama) and Madrasa wer brought under the
single umbrella of Jharkhand Academic Council with the sole intention that all
the branches of learning got equitable and unified attention so that they may
grow into mighty oaks and no branch gets etiolated and languished in cold shade
of neglect.
Another leap forward was taken when the CBSE curriculum was introduced from the
primary stage to the Intermediate stage to enable our students to partake in the
main current of the national education-programme freely and naturally. The CBSE
has been kind enough to recognise all our examinations and to issue a
no-objection certificate in regard to implementation of the CBSE curriculum Even
the COBSE granted recognition to the examinations conducted by the Council and
as a result of this other Boards / Councils in India have started recognising
our Examinations.
In order that our teachers do not have any difficulty in teaching CBSE courses,
some Orientation Courses and Workshops were conducted in collaboration with some
eminent publishers.
It is a matter of pleasure that the State Govt. allotted 4. acres of land in the
vicinity of the Project School, Bargaona in Namkum block and the foundation
stone was laid by Hon?ble Chief Minister Sri Arjun Munda on 2.9.2004. The matter
of appointment of Architect is under active consideration.
