the results ofthis examination and the approximate number of vacancies
in Grade IV ofthe Services are given below :-</font></p>

alteration.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Reservationswill be made for candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes, ScheduledTribes, Other Backward Classes and
Physically Disabled Categories inrespect of vacancies as may be fixed
by the Government of India.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">(b)A candidate may compete for
any one of the Services only viz. theIndian Economic Service or the
Indian Statistical Service, for whichhe/she is eligible in terms of the
rules.</font></p><p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Indian Indian Statistical Service&nbsp; - ISS Eligibility</strong></font>
</p><p><font size="1"><strong>3. Eligibility
Conditions for ISS:
</strong></font></p> <p><font size="1">(I) Nationality</font></p> <p><font size="1"><strong>A candidate must be either
:�</strong></font></p> <ol type="A"><li><font size="1">A citizen of India,
or</font></li><li><font size="1">A subject of
Nepal, or</font></li><li><font size="1">A
subject of Bhutan, or</font></li><li><font size="1">A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st
January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,
or</font></li><li><font size="1">Aperson of
Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilankaor East
African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic ofTanzania,
Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with theintention of
permanently settling in India.</font></li></ol>
<p><font size="1"><strong>(II) Age
Limits:</strong></font></p> <ol type="a"><li><div align="justify"><font size="1">Acandidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must
not haveattained the age of 30 years.</font></div></li></ol><p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note
I</strong>-Candidatesbelonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled
Tribes and the OtherBackward Classes who are also covered under any
other clauses of para3(II) (b) above, viz. those coming under the
category of Ex-servicemen,persons domiciled in the State of J &amp;
K, Physically disabled etc.will be eligible for grant of cumulative
age-relaxation under both thecategories.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note
II</strong>-Theterm ex-servicemen will apply to the persons who
are defined asex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in
Civil Services andPosts) Rules, 1979, as amended from time to
time.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note III</strong>-Theage concession
under para 3 (ii) (b) (v) and (vi) will not beadmissible to
Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers includingECOs/SSCOs who are
released on own request.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note
IV</strong>-Notwithstanding the provision of age-relaxation under
para 3 (II) (b)(vii) above, a physically disabled candidate will be
considered to beeligible for appointment only if he/she (after such
physicalexamination as the Government or appointing authority, as the
case maybe, may prescribe) is found to satisfy the requirements of
physical andmedical standards for the concerned Services/posts to be
allocated tothe physically disabled candidates by the
Government.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Save as provided above the age limits prescribed can in no
case be relaxed.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Thedate of birth accepted by the
Commission is that entered in theMatriculation or Secondary School
Leaving Certificate or in acertificate recognised by an Indian
University as equivalent toMatriculation or in an extract from a
Register of Matriculatesmaintained by a University, which extract must
be certified by theproper authority of the University or in the Higher
Secondary or anequivalent examination
certificate.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">These certificate are required to be submitted only after
the declaration of the result of the return part of the
examination.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Noother document relating to age like horoscopes,
affidavits, birthextracts from Municipal Corporation, service records
and the like willbe accepted.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">The
expressionMatriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate in
this part ofthe instruction includes the alternative certificates
mentioned above.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note
1:</strong>Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth as
recorded in theMatriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate
or an equivalentcertificate as on the date of submission of
applications will beaccepted by the Commission and no subsequent
request for its changewill be considered or
granted.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note 2:</strong>Candidates should also
note that once a Date of Birth has been claimedby them and entered in
the records of the Commission for the purpose ofadmission to an
Examination, no change will be allowed sub- sequently(or at any other
Examination of the Commission) on any
groundswhatsoever.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Note
3:</strong> Thecandidate should exercise due care while entering
their date of birthin column 8 of the application form for the
Examination. If onverification at any subsequent stage, any variation
is found in theirdate of birth from the one entered in their
matriculation or equivalentExamination certificate, disciplinary action
will be taken against themby the commission under the
Rules.</font></p><p><font size="1"><strong>Scheme of
Examination</strong></font></p> <p><font size="1"><strong>1. The examination shall be conducted
according to the following Plan:</strong></font></p>
<ul><li><div align="justify"><font size="1">Part I. Written examination carrying a maximum of 1000
marks in the subjects as shown
below.</font></div></li><li><div align="justify"><font size="1"> Part II. Viva voce of such
candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of
200 marks.</font></div></li></ul>

<p><font size="1">Note: The details of standard and syllabi
for the examination are given in Section II
below.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">2. The question papers in all the subjects will be of
Conventional (essay) type.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">3. All question papers must be
answered in English. Question papers will be set in English
only.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">4.Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In
nocircumstances, will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write
theanswers for them.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">5. The Commission have
discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the
examination.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">6.If a candidate�s handwriting is not easily legible, a
deduction will bemade on this account, from the total marks otherwise
accruing to him.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">7. Marks will not be allotted
for mere superficial knowledge.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">8. Credit will be given for
orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of
words.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">9. In the question papers, wherever required, SI units will
be used.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">10. Candidates will be allowed the use of Scientific
(Non-Programmable type) Calculator at the examination.
</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Programmabletype calculators will, however, will not be
allowed and the use of suchcalculators shall tantamount to resorting to
unfair means by thecandidates. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Loaning or interchanging of
calculators in the Examination Hall is not
permitted.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">11. Candidates should use only International form of Indian
numerals (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.) while answering question
papers.</font></p> <p><font size="1"><strong>Part-II</strong></font></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="1">Vivavoce�The candidate
will be interviewed by a Board of competent andunbiased observers who
will have before them a record of his career.The object of the
interview is to assess his suitablity for the Servicefor which he has
competed.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">The interviewis intended to supplement the written
examination for testing thegeneral and specialised knowledge and
abilities of the candidate.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Thecandidate will be expected
to have taken an intelligent interest notonly in his subjects of
academic study but also in events which arehappening around him both
within and outside his own State or country,as well as in modern
currents of thought and in new discoveries whichshould rouse the
curiosity of well-educated youth.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">2.The technique of the
interview is not that of a strict crossexamination, but of a natural,
through directed and purposiveconversation, intended to reveal mental
qualities of the candidate andhis/her grasp of problems.
</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">The Boardwill pay special attention to assessing the
intellectual curiosity,critical powers of assimilation, balance of
judgement and alertness ofmind, the ability for social cohesion,
integrity of character,initiation and capacity of
leadership.</font></p><p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>Indian Statistical Service - ISS</strong></font> </p><p align="justify"><font size="1"><strong>IV. Educational
Qualification for UPSC CPF Assistant Commandants Exam:</strong>A
candidate must hold a Bachelor�s degree of a University incorporatedby
an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or othereducational
institutions established by an Act of Parliament ordeclared to be
deemed as a University under Section-3 of the UniversityGrants
Commission Act, 1956 or posses an equivalent qualification.
</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Note1 : Candidates who have appeared at an examination the
passing of whichwould render them educationally qualified for the
Commission�sexamination but have not been informed of the results as
also thecandidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying
examination in theyear 2008 will also be eligible for admission to the
examination. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Suchcandidates will be admitted to the examination if
otherwise eligiblebut the admission would be deemed to be provisional
and subject tocancellation if they do not produce proof of having
passed therequisite examination along with the Detailed Application
Form whichwill be required to be submitted to the Commission by the
candidateswho after qualifying on the result of the written part of
theexamination are also declared qualified in the
PhysicalStandards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards
Tests.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">NoteII : In exceptional cases the Union Public Service
Commission may treata candidate who has not any of the foregoing
qualifications as aqualified candidate, provided that he/she has passed
an examinationconducted by the other Institutions, the standard of
which in theopinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to
theexamination.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Note III : Candidatespossessing
professional and technical qualifications which arerecognised by
Government as equivalent to professional and technicaldegree would also
be eligible for admission to the examination.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="1">V. Restriction on
reappearance of candidates finally selected/ recommended earlier:
</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Acandidate who has been finally selected on the basis of an
earlierexamination to the post of Assistant Commandants in any of the
forcesparticipating in the Central Police Forces (Assistant
Commandants)Examination will not be eligible to appear at a subsequent
examinationfor recruitment of Assistant Commandants in the
participating CPFs.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">VI Physical
Standards:</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Candidatesmust meet the prescribed Physical and Medical
Standards for admissionto Central Police Forces Examination (Assistant
Commandants), 2008specified in Appendix-VI of the
Notice.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">VII Possession of NCC �B� or�C� Certificates
:</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Possessionof NCC �B� or �C� Certificate will be a desirable
qualification. Thesequalifications will be given consideration at the
time of Interview/Personality Test only.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">4. Fee:</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="1">Candidatesresiding in
India seeking admission to examination must pay to theCommission a fee
of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through a singleCentral
Recruitment Fee Stamp. Candidates belonging to
ScheduledCastes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee. No
feeexemption is, however, available to OBC Candidates and they
arerequired to pay the prescribed fee, in full.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="1">TheCentral Recruitment
Fee Stamp of requisite denomination (NOT postagestamps) may be obtained
from the post office and affixed on theapplication form in the space
provided therein. The stamp must be gotcancelled from the issuing Post
Office with the date stamp of the postoffice in such a manner that the
impression of the cancellation markpartially overflows on the
application form itself but within the spaceprovided on the form.
</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">The impression ofthe cancellation mark should be clear and
distinct to facilitate theidentification of date and the Post Office of
issue. Candidatesresiding abroad should deposit the prescribed fee in
the office ofIndia �s High Commissioner, Ambassador or representative
abroad as thecase may be for credit to account head �051-Public
ServiceCommission-Examination Fees� and attach the receipt with
theapplication.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">Candidates should Note thatthe
fee sent through Indian Postal Orders, Bank Draft, Money Order,Crossed
Cheque, Currency Notes, Treasury Challan, Postage Stamps etc.will not
be accepted by the Commission and such applications will betreated as
without fee and will be summarily rejected.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="1">Note I : Applications not
accompanied by the prescribed fee (unless remission of fee is claimed)
shall be summarily rejected.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="1">NoteII : Fee once paid shall
not be refunded under any circumstances norcan the fee be held in
reserve for any other examination or selection.</font></p>
