The JIS Foundation is the cherished vision of Sardar Jodh Singh.
A self-made industrialist of repute, Sardar Jodh Singh strongly believed that providing quality educational infrastructure in a developing country like India is a social need. In accordance with this belief, he envisaged educational institutions that would be centres of excellence and whose graduates would be young professionals who are fully awake to social responsibilities.
Sardar Jodh Singh founded the JIS Foundation - a public charitable trust - dedicated to the social cause for providing higher education. One of the Foundation's is the JIS College of Engineering.
JIS College of Engineering was established in 2000 with the objective of imparting value-based education in the engineering and management disciplines.
The campus of JIS College of Engineering is set amid pollution-free lush green surroundings. The imposing College building is an integrated facility with 1,79,000 sq ft (approx) of built up space with provisions for expansion needs. The spacious ambience is reflected throughout the campus i.e., spacious lecture halls, seminar halls, laboratories and workshops equipped with modern amenities in tune with the needs of modern research and higher studies.
Labs & Workshop : The Kalyani campus has separate modern workshop, machine shop, fitting shop etc that meet the practical needs of engineering courses. The College has modern well-equipped laboratories to meet the requirements of hands-on training for various engineering disciplines.

Computer facility : The College has over 500 (Pentium 4) computers of high-end configurations housed in eight special air-conditioned labs. These labs are fully equipped with leased line broadband Internet access facility and latest software integrated into a networked system with private servers. There are matching peripherals like printers, modems, scanners etc.
Library : The library has the relevant books and reference materials for study and is continuously being expanded on a regular basis providing the students access to electronic information sources. As per the last estimate the library has over 18000 books, several National, International Journals and reference materials. It has facilities to enable use and access to multi-media education tools like CDs, projectors etc. The library has a spacious reading area for the students and flexible operational hours.
